For over half a century, the Improvisation Comedy Clubs have been the premier stages for live comedy in the United States. Today, the Improv stage remains a key venue for both established and emerging comedians. I had the opportunity to create large-scale graphics for both the interior and exterior of the venue, edit photos of comedians, and design temporary murals to enhance the venue's atmosphere.
These graphics were displayed around the Improv box office in Brea, California. They were designed to draw people in by capturing the lively, joyful atmosphere of the venue. The large wall graphics brought energy and movement to the space, making the visuals as vibrant and engaging as the comedy shows themselves. Using the signature Improv red, I layered dynamic elements to evoke the sense of motion and laughter.
These graphics were created to promote a chance to win a trip to the original Hollywood Improv in Los Angeles, California. The design evolved through several iterations, including one that layered two images of the same comedian on top of each other, similar to the graphics above.. The final design focused on making the comedians, Ali Wong and Adam Devine, stand out from the background, ensuring both a male and female comedian were featured to appeal to a broader audience.
